چکیده

We study two sequential, response-adaptive randomized designs for clinical trials; one has been proposed in Bandyopadhyay and Biswas (2001) and in Biswas and Basu (2001), the other stems from the randomly reinforced urn introduced and studied in Muliere et al.(2005). Both designs can be used in clinical trials where the response from each patient is a continuous variable. Comparison is conducted through numerical studies and along a new guideline for the evaluation of a response-adaptive design.

Application of adaptive sampling in fishery part 1: Adaptive cluster sampling and its strip designs

Abstract:  The precision of conventional sampling designs is not usually satisfactory for estimating parameters of clump and rare populations. Many of fish species live in school and disperse all over a vast area like a sea so that they are rare compare to their habitats. Theory of a class of sampling designs called adaptive sampling designs has rapidly grown during last decade which solved the...

Equidistribution grids for two-parameter convection–diffusion boundary-value problems

In this article, we propose an adaptive grid based on mesh equidistribution principle for two-parameter convection-diffusion boundary value problems with continuous and discontinuous data. A numerical algorithm based on an upwind finite difference operator and an appropriate adaptive grid is constructed. Truncation errors are derived for both continuous and discontinuous problems. Parameter uni...

Asymptotic Properties of Covariate - Adjusted Adaptive Designs

Owing to the benefits that higher proportions of patients are likely to receive the better treatment, response-adaptive designs are considered to be valuable statistical tools in clinical studies. Nevertheless, there is a lack of a comprehensive study of adaptive designs with the inclusion of covariates, regardless of their importance in clinical experiments. The major reason is that covariatea...

Using Finite Point Method for the Numerical Simulation of Heat Transfer Coupled with Microsegregation during Continuous Casting

In the present work, a meshless method called Finite Point Method (FPM) is developed to simulate the solidification process of a continuously cast steel bloom in both primary and secondary cooling regions. The method is based on the use of a weighted least-square interpolation procedure. A transverse slice of the bloom moving at casting speed is considered as the computational domain and two di...
